Stitchy McGee

I'm in the midst of creating a set of new embroidery and other work for a solo show at the starbucks where I work. I'm totally in the stitching fever!

To keep some suspense and for effect when it's all done, I'm not going to post work-in-progress photos (but am documenting my process and will post at the end).

Instead, here are some bits to titillate and tease:

I put together this handy chart to help with color planning and remembering

You are so cute! I can't wait to see the finished pieces, I'm all about the embroidery right now too. :)

Cool! I'm interested in learning how to embroider, and I'm trying to recall if you have published anything about that in your zines. Yes? No? Any tips? xo

Miss CCP - I don't think I've written about embroidery (YET!) but I will say I love it because it's easy to start, you can keep it simple or make it as complicated as you want. My tips - start simple, either with patterns or even your own drawings. The sublime stitching beginner stitch it kit is a good one because it has everything. If you're of the mind, you can put the supplies together yourself, too. Try out different stitches. Use a nice sturdy fabric - will make it easier to get your stitches even. Try using the full 6 strand thickness that normally come in your floss, and try 3 or 4. I find it easier to work with the thinner, I guess it just depends. That's what I can think of at the moment but feel free to email me or whatever!
